Make Your Own Flintstone DIY Costume

Throw a Prehistoric Bash with a Stone-Age Costume

The Flintstones have been entertaining generations of viewers since they first aired in 1960. Now, it’s time to bring some of their prehistoric fun to your next costume party. With a few basic materials, you can create your own DIY Flintstones costume in no time.

Gather Your Materials

You’ll need the following materials to create your Flintstones costume:

  • A white, long-sleeved shirt
  • White pants or shorts
  • A pair of brown, faux leather boots
  • Orange fabric dye
  • A pair of large, plastic sunglasses
  • A black belt
  • Fake fur fabric
  • White felt
  • Fabric glue
  • Rope
  • Scissors

Dye Your Clothes

Start by dyeing your shirt and pants orange. Follow the directions on the package of fabric dye to ensure the color comes out just right. Once they're done, let them air dry.

Make Your Accessories

Now, it's time to make your accessories. Cut two circles out of the white felt and glue them to a piece of fake fur. This will be your character’s signature hat. You can also make a tie out of the fake fur and glue it to the white shirt. To complete the look, make a stone-age club out of the rope.

Put It All Together

Now you're ready to put it all together. Put on your orange shirt, pants, and boots. Accessorize with your sunglasses, belt, hat, and club. With your DIY Flintstones costume complete, you're ready to make your next costume party a prehistoric success.
